# aether mcp

> Serve Aether to a local coding agent, and add, connect and enable MCP servers

Serve Aether's MCP tools to Codex or Claude Code on this machine, and add, connect and enable the MCP servers of your catalogs.

## Usage

```bash theme={"dark"}
aether mcp <subcommand> [flags]
```

## Subcommands

| Subcommand | Description |
| - | - |
| `serve` | Serve Aether over stdio for Codex or Claude Code (started by the agent) |
| `login` | Sign in to Aether for the local bridge |
| `add` | Add a remote MCP server to your catalog |
| `connect` | Print a single-use link that connects your account to an MCP server |
| `enable` | Enable an MCP server on your agent or on a project |

## aether mcp add

Probes the server at the URL and adds it to your personal organization's catalog. With `--org`, it adds to a team's catalog, which only the team's admins may change. A server that takes an API key or another secret is added in the web app (Settings → Integrations), so the secret never passes through the CLI.

```bash theme={"dark"}
aether mcp add <url> [flags]
```

| Flag | Description |
| - | - |
| `--key` | The server's key, which names its tools (default: from the URL's host, `mcp.vercel.com` is `vercel`) |
| `--name` | Display name (default: from the key) |
| `--org` | A team organization's catalog instead of your personal one |

```
Added Vercel (vercel) to your personal catalog.
Connect your account to it: aether mcp connect 5f1c…
Enable it on your agent: aether mcp enable 5f1c… --agent
```

The commands it prints name the server by its id, which no other catalog shares.

## aether mcp connect

Prints a single-use link to your own OAuth consent for a server of a catalog you can see, named by key or id. The link works once, for ten minutes, opened by you signed in to Aether, and only an account with a verified phone is sent one. The consent completes in the browser: no code or token passes through the CLI.

```bash theme={"dark"}
aether mcp connect <server>
```

## aether mcp enable

Enables a server on your personal agent, adding it to the servers your agent already has, or on a project. On your agent it says whether your agent can use the server from its next turn, or what is missing.

```bash theme={"dark"}
aether mcp enable <server> --agent
aether mcp enable <server> --project <id>
```

```
Linear is enabled on your agent. Your agent cannot use it until it is connected: aether mcp connect 5f1c… for a server you connect with OAuth; any other is connected in Aether's web app, at Settings → Integrations.
```
