# aether automation

> Manage a project's automations

An automation runs a saved prompt as a task of its project on a schedule. Its tasks take their agent, model and connection from its [agent profile](https://docs.runaether.dev/cli/agent-profile.md), else from the project's task defaults. For the concept, see [Automations](https://docs.runaether.dev/concepts/automation.md).

`list` and `create` act in the project `--project` names, else your default project. The other commands take the automation's id, which `list` prints.

## Subcommands

| Command | Description |
| - | - |
| `aether automation list` | List the project's automations |
| `aether automation get <automation-id>` | Show an automation |
| `aether automation create` | Create an automation |
| `aether automation update <automation-id>` | Update an automation |
| `aether automation pause <automation-id>` | Pause its schedule |
| `aether automation resume <automation-id>` | Resume its schedule |
| `aether automation delete <automation-id>` | Delete an automation |
| `aether automation runs <automation-id>` | List its runs, newest first |

## Schedules

A schedule is one of:

| Flags | Runs |
| - | - |
| `--every <duration>` | Every interval, a whole number of minutes: `30m`, `2h`, `24h` |
| `--at <HH:MM>` | Daily, at that time of day on the 24-hour clock |
| `--on <weekday> --at <HH:MM>` | Weekly, on that day (`monday` or `mon`) at that time |

The schedule runs in the IANA zone `--timezone` names, such as `America/New_York` or `UTC`.

## `list`

```bash theme={"dark"}
aether automation list
aether automation list --project 3f0b5d8e --json
```

Lists each automation with its id, status, schedule and its latest run's outcome. With `--json`, prints the automations as the API returns them.

## `get`

```bash theme={"dark"}
aether automation get 5b1e2c3d-4f5a-4b6c-8d7e-9f0a1b2c3d4e
```

Shows the automation's schedule, its next run in the schedule's zone (none while it is paused), its agent profile and its prompt. With `--json`, prints the automation as the API returns it.

## `create`

```bash theme={"dark"}
aether automation create --name nightly --prompt "Triage new issues" --at 09:00 --timezone America/New_York
aether automation create --name weekly-deps --prompt "Update dependencies" --on monday --at 06:30 --timezone Europe/London --agent-profile reviewer
aether automation create --name sweep --prompt "Close stale PRs" --every 2h --timezone UTC
```

**--name** `string`

Automation name.

**--prompt** `string`

The prompt each run's task starts with.

**--every** `string`

Run every interval. See [Schedules](#schedules).

**--at** `string`

Run daily at this time, or weekly with `--on`.

**--on** `string`

Run weekly on this day, at `--at`.

**--timezone** `string` *required*

The IANA zone the schedule runs in.

**--agent-profile** `string`

The agent profile its tasks run with, by its id or its name in the organization `--org` names, else the one `AETHER_ORG` names, else your personal organization. Without it, they follow the project's task defaults.

## `update`

```bash theme={"dark"}
aether automation update 5b1e2c3d-4f5a-4b6c-8d7e-9f0a1b2c3d4e --prompt "Triage new and reopened issues"
aether automation update 5b1e2c3d-4f5a-4b6c-8d7e-9f0a1b2c3d4e --on friday --at 17:00
aether automation update 5b1e2c3d-4f5a-4b6c-8d7e-9f0a1b2c3d4e --agent-profile none
```

Only the fields a flag names change; the flags are those of `create`. A new schedule is named whole, as `create` names it, and keeps the automation's zone unless `--timezone` names another. `--agent-profile none` returns its tasks to the project's task defaults.

The update sends those fields alone, and the API keeps the rest. A new schedule moves the next run to its first after now; a new name, prompt or profile leaves it.

## `pause` and `resume`

```bash theme={"dark"}
aether automation pause 5b1e2c3d-4f5a-4b6c-8d7e-9f0a1b2c3d4e
aether automation resume 5b1e2c3d-4f5a-4b6c-8d7e-9f0a1b2c3d4e
```

Pausing stops the schedule; resuming starts it again from now. Only the automation's creator or an organization admin can control it, and the API refuses anyone else.

## `delete`

```bash theme={"dark"}
aether automation delete 5b1e2c3d-4f5a-4b6c-8d7e-9f0a1b2c3d4e --force
```

With `--json`, prints the deleted automation's `automation_id`.

**--force** `bool`

Skip the confirmation prompt.

## `runs`

```bash theme={"dark"}
aether automation runs 5b1e2c3d-4f5a-4b6c-8d7e-9f0a1b2c3d4e
aether automation runs 5b1e2c3d-4f5a-4b6c-8d7e-9f0a1b2c3d4e --limit 50 --json
```

Lists each run with the time it was scheduled for, its status, and the task it created or why it failed. When more runs remain, the CLI prints the command for the next page. With `--json`, prints the page as the API returns it, including `next_cursor`.

**--limit** `int`

The most runs to list.

**--cursor** `string`

Continue a previous list from its next cursor.
