# Release Notes

> Changes to the Aether REST API that affect API consumers

**2026-10-28**

The /v1 prefix is removed

The API is served at the root of `https://api.runaether.dev`. The `/v1` prefix is gone: a request to a `/v1/...` path now answers `404`, except the two paths below.

**What to change:** drop `/v1` from your base URL. `https://api.runaether.dev/v1/projects` becomes `https://api.runaether.dev/projects`; every other path, request, and response is unchanged.

* The [OpenAPI document](https://github.com/Aether-Runtime/aether/blob/main/apps/docs/api-reference/openapi.json) is now one document. Its `servers` entry names `https://api.runaether.dev`, and its paths are the paths the API serves. Regenerate clients from it.
* Your credential decides what you may call, not the path you call it on.
* The permissive CORS policy `/v1` carried is removed with it, except on the two aliases below. Browser CORS admits only the Aether web app's origin; call the API from a server, a script, or the CLI.
* Two `/v1` paths still answer, exactly as their root paths do, because teleport skills installed on users' machines call them: `GET /v1/projects` and `POST /v1/tasks/teleport`. They are not in the OpenAPI document and will be removed once nothing calls them; do not build on them. Refresh an installed teleport skill with `aether skill install aether-teleport`.
