# Send a task a message

> Sends the task a message, or answers its pending question or plan with tool_response (fenced to the input it answers by pending_input), and answers 202 with the message as the send stored it: queued, or accepted when the running turn takes it as live input; a repeat with the same client_message_id answers the message the first one stored. queue_for_later holds it until the running turn ends. Restricted to the task's creator or an admin or owner of its organization: another member is refused with 403 control_forbidden, and a viewer or billing member with 403 org_role_insufficient. A response the task cannot take now is refused with 409 and a code: task_awaiting_tool_response or task_awaiting_message naming the input it awaits, task_not_accepting_messages, stale_pending_input when the fenced input changed, or task_creator_deleted; a run that runtime admission refuses is a 402.
