# Reopen a closed pull request

> Reopens the closed pull request. Made through the authenticated caller's own GitHub identity, so GitHub judges their permission and a refusal surfaces as 422 with GitHub's message. Idempotent by GitHub state. 409 github_identity_required when the caller has no connected GitHub identity. The mirror records the pull request GitHub answers with, so the next read of the pull request reflects the change before its webhook arrives. Requires membership in the owning organization of a task linked to this pull request — the task that published it or a task that reviewed it — and current GitHub access to the repository. 404 covers an unknown pull request, one linked to no organization the caller belongs to, and one whose GitHub access the caller has lost; the three are deliberately indistinguishable.
